In this write up, we go over the installation process of the chrome/amber turn signal bulbs. Installation is very simple and no tools are required. These bulbs complement clear corner headlamps and turn signals very well. We installed the bulbs in our smoked clear corner headlamps for the 99-04 Mustang. The bulb will fit any application using a 3157 bulb type.
First remove the two headlamp pins that secure the headlamp to the vehicle. Simply place your finger under the tab as shown below and pull up. There are two pins per headlamp. These are the only items securing the headlamp to the vehicle.
Once the pins are removed, gently slide the headlamps away from the body of the vehicle. It may take some effort, but eventually they will work free. Once you have some space, unplug the wiring harness from the headlamp bulb. Simply pull up on the tabs and gently release the harness.
Next, remove the wiring harness connected to the turn signal bulb. Depress the sides of the harness and gently pull it off the turn signal bulb. The picture below shows the harness removed from the bulb.
Turn the bulb counter clock-wise to remove it from the headlamp. The picture below shows the bulb partially removed from the housing.
The picture below shows the stock turn signal bulb located in its base. Gently pull the bulb out of the base to prepare for re-installation of the new turn signal bulb.
Take the new chrome/amber bulb and re-install it in the adapter. Be careful not to touch the bulb with your bare hands or fingertips. The new chrome/amber bulb installed is shown below.
Finally, reverse steps one through four and your installation is complete.
The new chrome/amber turn signal bulb shown in action below.

In this write-up we add a set of clear rear side markers and red led bulbs to our 2009 Mustang GT. Installation is very simple and takes virtually minutes to do. You can find our rear side marker/LED package here – http://www.stangmods.com/Mustang-Rear-Side-Marker-Lenses-Red-LED-Bulbs-p/00980.htm
- Flat head screwdriver
- Terry Cloth or Towel
The first step is removing the stock side marker. This is done by wrapping the end of a flat head screwdriver with a towel. Insert the end into the small gap where the sidemarker meets the body of the car and gently pull outward.
The sidemarker will be attached to the wiring harness from the vehicle. Depress the tab shown in the picture below and release the harness from the lens.
Now, remove the stock bulb housing from the lens by turning it counter clockwise. This is what you’ll be left with after removing the housing with bulb inside.
Now its time to get the clear lens and LED bulb ready for installation. Simply pull the stock halogen bulb out of its base and insert the new LED bulb. It’s important to note that the LED bulb will fit in the bulb housing two different ways, but only one way is correct. After installing the LED bulb in the small black housing, plug it into the sidemarker wiring harness. Use your key fob and unlock your doors. This will cause the LED bulb to come on. If it does not light up, then flip the position of the LED in the bulb housing.
Once you’ve done this, remove the bulb housing from the wiring harness and re-install it into the new clear side marker as shown below.
We’re almost done at this point. Take your new sidemarker with LED bulb installed and plug the sidemarker wiring harness back in.
The clear lens has an OEM fit. Simply push the lens back into place and you should hear/feel it snap in. It does not require much force to get it on so don’t force things!
Your installation is now complete!

In this write-up, we go over the process of installing StangMods’ HID foglight kit in your 2010-2011 Mustang GT. We’ve gone over the write up for the headlight kit which can be found HERE.
The fog kit needs no wiring harness and uses the factory wiring harness plugs to get power to the ballasts. As you can see with the grill installed there is very little space behind the grill. It’s not possible to do this install without removing the grill. Removing the grill is the most difficult part of installing this HID kit. You have to remove two bolts that hold the grill on and then pop the grill loose from the retailing tabs all around the grill. Take care to not scratch your paint during the removal process.
Once the grill is removed, you can access the bulbs easily. You need to twist and remove the factory bulbs from the housing of the fogs and then install the HID bulbs into the housing by pressing them into the opening and twisting to lock. The HID bulbs again have a black and red wire coming off for connecting to the ballast.
Once you have the bulbs installed, you are ready to install the ballasts for your fog lights and connect the wires. The factory connector to the fog light plug connects to one of the connectors running off the ballast. This is the only confusing part of the install. The factory harness for each of the fogs has two different colored wires. On each side, the power wire is different color than the ground wire is. You have to be sure that the ground wire of the factory plug is aligned with the side of the HID harness that has the black ground wire. In my case, the ground wire was a grayish color with a yellow stripe. If you hook this backwards, the HID fog lights will not work. Be sure you test the fogs to ensure they work before you reinstall the grill.
The installation for both the right and left fog lights is the exact same. All of the connectors except the one where the factory fog light harness plugs in that I just mentioned are keyed. The other wiring connections can’t be installed wrong. Once you get the ballasts hooked up and the fogs work you can route the wires and reinstall the grill. I pushed the wires though a small opening between the radiator and the headlight assembly rather than wire the ballasts inside the radiator area. You can put the ballasts wherever the will safely fit and be secure.
After installing the wires, reinstalling the grill, and securing the ballast you are ready to reconnect the battery, put the radiator cover back on and you are done. The lights look really good and have lots more light than the factory halogen bulbs. Keep in mind when you look at the before and after photos below that my headlights and fogs are blackout tinted.
You’ll notice the HIDs provide a crisper, cooler-white light that makes night time driving safer and aesthetically pleasing.

Installing a shorty antenna on your 94-09 Mustang is a very simple process that takes less than 5 minutes. We go over the process in this write-up.
- 3/8 Inch Wrench (optional)
The first step is getting the stock fishing rod-like antenna off of the vehicle. We were lucky and able to remove the antenna by using our bare thumb and index finger. Turn it counter clockwise and it will come right off. If you cannot unscrew it by hand, use a 3/8 wrench to do the job.
After unscrewing the stock antenna…
Your new shorty antenna comes with one threaded adapter base. Screw the fatter end of the threaded base into the stock antenna location as shown below.
Now, simply screw on the new shorty antenna onto the adapter base in a clock-wise motion.
Your installation is now complete!

StangMods offers a Running Pony emblem cover that has really been a hit among 2005-2011 Mustang owners. The simple installation process and great looks makes this product a must have install if your looking to dress up the front end of your Mustang. Follow along as we go over the installation process.
- Alcohol prep pad (included)
- Soft terry cloth
You first want to make sure you are working in good weather conditions. It is best to install the emblem cover in non-windy conditions with temperatures in the 45-90 degree Farenheit temperature range. This will ensure proper adherence.
Use the supplied alcohol prep pad to thoroughly clean the stock running pony emblem. Once the surface is clean and dry you are ready to install the cover. You’ll notice red tape on the backing of your pony emblem cover. Gently remove the paper backing of each piece to expose the adhesive side as shown below.
Now, you’ll want to align the cover over the stock running pony. Be careful not to touch the adhesive to any foreign object or material.
Once the new emblem is positioned over the stock emblem, firmly press your fingers all around to ensure the adhesive makes a firm connection. That’s all there is to the installation!
You can choose to accent your Mustang’s color with a painted emblem to match or you can go for the blackout look with a matte or gloss black emblem cover. Each cover is $29.95 with free shipping from StangMods. Find the running pony covers for 2005-2009 Mustangs HERE, and 2010-2012 HERE
In this write-up we will go over the installation of our three piece Mach 1 Grille Delete Package. Our kit uses Ford OEM parts for great fit and finish as well as long term durability. This is one of our most popular sellers along with the Mach 1 lip spoiler. You can find our grill delete packages here: StangMods Grill Delete Packages
- 7MM Socket
- Phillips Head Screwdriver
- Flat Head Screwdriver
First start off by removing the four plastic push screws from the top portion of the stock grille. After removing these four screws, you will see two more push pin screws on each side. (Do not break these as they will be reused). The easiest method is to use a flat head screw driver to gently pry them up from underneath.
Now you are going to remove the four bolts holding the factory grill in place. They are a little awkward to get to so we recommend pulling the stock grill forward enough so you can reach down and remove the 7MM bolts with a socket.
Take the top center section and install it using the two push pins at the lower section of the grille delete. Next, you will install the “U” shaped section. Reinstall it using the two push pins that were holding the stock grill on at the top. Make sure the four bottom posts are inserted into the bottom portion of the bumper. Remove the backing off of the 3M tape and push securely against the bumper to ensure a flush fit.
Finally, mount the running pony with the two new bolts using the phillips head screwdriver. You are now done with the installation.
Our latest write-up goes over the process of installing a Mach 1 style chin spoiler on a 1999-2004 Mustang. StangMods carries high quality ABS plastic Mach 1 style lip spoilers with an OEM style textured finish. Not the glossy finish many aftermarket companies sell. Each of our chin spoiler kits comes included with push pin fasteners for a tight fit. This chin spoiler will give the front of your 99-04 Mustang a clean yet sporty look. You can find our chin spoilers for 99-04 here – http://www.stangmods.com/Mustang-Chin-Spoiler-for-99-04-p/00084.htm and the same chin spoiler for 96-98 Mustangs here – http://www.stangmods.com/Mustang-Chin-Spoiler-for-94-98-Mustangs-p/00542.htm
- Duct Tape
- Push Pin Fasteners
- 1/4″ Drill Bit
First start off by securing the vehicle on a level surface. Make sure the car is in gear and the parking brake is engaged.
Raise the front of the car so that you may have adequate space to work underneath the front bumper.
Mock fit the chin spoiler to the front bumper. It is easier if two people are handling the chin spoiler.
When you get the spoiler positioned to your liking, use duct tape to secure it to the bumper. (Tape will be removed later)
Drill ¼” holes into the bottom of the front bumper at each Chin Spoiler screw location.
Finally, insert pushpin fasteners into the holes on the bumper to secure the chin spoiler.
The last step is to remove the duct tape you used earlier to secure the chin spoiler to the bumper.
This completes the installation process.
